a glimpse......

Scenes from our lovely (if I don't say so myself) booth and display at the Downtown Holiday Market in Washington DC. The photos don't accurately capture the bitter coldness in the air......perhaps I should add the picture of me huddled in the corner tightly gripping a starbucks cup in one hand and red velvet cupcake in the other. You heard me, cupcakes AND donuts. I'll consider adding vegetables and protein to my diet again once my hands thaw out.
A huge thanks to all of the wonderful people who visited our little shop during the last few days! It was wonderful to see some familiar faces and to meet many new folks as well :)

brrr!

East coast residents are hearty people. I am not a hearty person. After four days (four progressively colder days) sitting outside in Washington DC I am longing for the more temperate climate of home. I'm coping by consuming staggering amounts of coffee and fresh from the fryer mini donuts with powdered sugar and sprinkles. It's helping.

Downtown DC Holiday Market

I'll be in Washington DC at the wonderful Downtown Holiday Market through Monday, December 6th. If you're in the area stop by and say hello! I'm also showcasing beautiful jewelry from my amazingly talented friend Laurel Denise. We've both got lots of wonderful goodies to choose from!

Book Party

I'll be at Rare Device tomorrow night celebrating the launch of Meg Mateo Ilasco's latest book, Crafting a Meaningful home. It just so happens that a little DIY project of mine is included in the book alongside 26 other incredible ideas from designers and artists across the country. Several of the projects will be on display at the party and I can't wait to see the installation that Meg is putting together as we speak!

.............crafty

I'll be flying to L.A. tomorrow with my favorite boys for a weekend wedding and a visit with the inlaws so I'll leave you with these images of antique pulleys that I've been compiling. They're going to play a key part in an upcoming home project that I'm planning so stay tuned......

then.............

Believe it or not this was what our kitchen looked like for nearly two years before we finally got around to renovating it (we did have upper cabinets and less holes in the wall but I didn't start documenting the process until some of the demo had started). It's difficult to really capture the true grit and filth of the shabby linoleum and aging grout with the camera but you get the basic idea. We became experts at preparing meals with only a hotplate and toaster oven and wasted precious hours of our lives waiting for water to boil. Needless to say we couldn't be more thrilled to have upgraded to this.........

now.............

It's been three weeks since the completion of our new kitchen and I still feel giddy at the thought of boiling a pot of water in a matter of minutes. Lame, I know but it's true.

.............inspiration

just a few of the shapes, colors, and textures that have been finding their way into the new collection for fall. I'm especially excited to debut a series of necklaces influenced by the color vision test plate show above.
