the view from our back steps

This is what was waiting for us outside our back door this morning.  I've seen the balloons over my studio before but this one was the closest yet. Somehow the photograph made it look further away than it seemed in person. The balloon was so close that we could see the people in the basket waving at us and hear them shouting hello. Just one of the many things I love about living in the Napa Valley.....

Birthdays and Butterflies

Last month we celebrated our son's 2nd birthday with an insect themed party. I got a little carried away (as I have a tendency to do) with the invitations and decorations but he had a great time and we enjoyed spending the day with friends, eating and playing!

zoobilee zoo

I'm enjoying a much needed visit home with my little guy and thought I would share this photo taken yesterday at the Sedgwick County Zoo. It's been years since I've visited my hometown zoo and I was instantly transported back to grade school by the familiar sounds and sites of the petting farm and chimp house. We spent the entire morning touring the newest additions to the park including a world class gorilla habitat and cat house.  How lucky you Kansan's are to have this stunning resource right in your backyard :)

a glimpse......

Scenes from our lovely (if I don't say so myself) booth and display at the Downtown Holiday Market in Washington DC. The photos don't accurately capture the bitter coldness in the air......perhaps I should add the picture of me huddled in the corner tightly gripping a starbucks cup in one hand and red velvet cupcake in the other. You heard me, cupcakes AND donuts. I'll consider adding vegetables and protein to my diet again once my hands thaw out.
A huge thanks to all of the wonderful people who visited our little shop during the last few days! It was wonderful to see some familiar faces and to meet many new folks as well :)

brrr!

East coast residents are hearty people. I am not a hearty person. After four days (four progressively colder days) sitting outside in Washington DC I am longing for the more temperate climate of home. I'm coping by consuming staggering amounts of coffee and fresh from the fryer mini donuts with powdered sugar and sprinkles. It's helping.

Downtown DC Holiday Market

I'll be in Washington DC at the wonderful Downtown Holiday Market through Monday, December 6th. If you're in the area stop by and say hello! I'm also showcasing beautiful jewelry from my amazingly talented friend Laurel Denise. We've both got lots of wonderful goodies to choose from!
